30's-Marlene-Dietrich-like today

Hair: It's always difficult to know what to do with the hair when I have washed it in the morning and don't have the opportunity to sleep with pin curls. This time I braided it right after I blow dried it and left them for about half an hour. It made my hair somewhat wavy. Then I put my bangs to one side and used some bobby pins to make those 30's waves in the front, and put it up in the back.

Shirt: Found it at the Salvation Army. Originally from Vero Moda, so it's not vintage.

Tie: Also from the Salvation Army. The label says "Skifter of Copenhagen 1919-1969", so it's probably from 1969.

Skirt: Self-made, look above.

Tiki dress!

Here's the first successful dress I ever made myself! It's actually a skirt and a top and can be used separate, or one can put them together to look like a dress! I sewed a bra into the top, so it's no need to use a bra under it. I bought the fabric in Tanzania and it's 100% cotton. I can make more on request.

Guilty pleasure

I had promised myself to not by any more clothes until I'm going to Gothenburg next weekend to save some money, but yesterday this dress cried out to me at Trabant (a vintage store in Oslo). I know I shouldn't went there in the first place, but here we are. It's dark blue with white polka dots and probably my eighth garment with polka dots. It's also 100% cotton and a perfect spring/summer dress. I had to do some corrections on the sleeves and the neckline, and I think it turned out very well! I am also very pleased with how my hair turned out today. I slept with soft rollers again, but fewer this time, just to keep the curls from yesterday.

I got the silk stockings from my grandma and sewed the seam on to them myself. I got many pairs from her and they are all in very good condition. She really knew how to take care of her things. And the quality was of course much better in the 50's!

The belt (or scarf) is from another skirt I got from grandma, it's not vintage, but looks very 40's.

Latest catches

Dress bought at the Salvation Army shop in Moss. The fabric is a bit icky, its very synthetic, but with something underneath it's ok. I didn't have to do any corrections on this one!

Dress bought at the Birkelunden sunday market. It was about four sizes too big, so I lifted it at the waist and sewed it in at both sides. From the left over fabric I made a belt. It's down to the feet and i think the fabric may be silk, so this will be my 40's evening gown for formal events! I like that the colour is so delicate and a nice contrast to my red hair! I love red and pink, even though my mom always told me that mixing them is a big no no.
